SUMMER OPERA CAMP

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/02/2019
Entertaining, enriching and challenging, Lyric Opera Summer Camp provides an introduction to the many facets of opera and helps young people develop as singer/actors.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Are you ready for your entrance?

Summer Opera Campers will study a beloved opera on our upcoming Main Stage season (to be announced in February 2019) – which also includes a children’s chorus. We’ll train everyone on what it takes to be a part of a professional opera, and we’ll learn the children’s chorus music and make sure anyone who wants to audition for our Main Stage production feels confident and ready to do their very best.

We’ll do our own performing, too. Younger campers will be featured in Mystery on the Docks, and older campers will work with opera professionals on music, languages and acting as they prepare and present a new art song and opera scene. Early Bird’s will have their own music and tech/design projects.

Last Day Activities and Program:
On the final day of camp, August 2, early bird campers will arrive at 8:30 am as usual, but all other campers will join us at 10:00 am for a final rehearsal of our program. Then at 11:30 am we invite parents and friends to bring in food for a camp potluck, which will begin at noon. At 12:30 pm there will be an optional facility tour for those done eating. We’ll begin our program at 1:00 pm or as soon as everyone is done eating. Fond farewells at approximately 2:30 pm.
