SciFun Camp - Scientific Origins of Halloween

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 10/31/2022
Why do we carve pumpkins? Do the big, furry spiders we see in Halloween decorations really live in webs? Halloween is a fun holiday, but the modern version has gone through many changes over the last two thousand years…and a lot of it has to do with science! For example, people in Europe did not carve pumpkins. They couldn’t simply because pumpkins are only found in North America. Until they arrived in North America, they would use turnips instead. Along with learning about the science and some cultural origins behind the modern celebration we call Halloween, we will also watch holiday movies, enjoy snacks, and carve our very own turnips! For elementary school ages
