*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 09/15/2018
Family Fun Day at the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum! Open to the public for FREE for the Emergency Preparedness Fair. Come out to see emergency responders, mobile command centers, and talk to President Truman on a ham radio.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
President Truman signed the Federal Civil Defense Act 78 years ago. Since then emergency response has evolved into a massive coordinated effort between the local, state and federal government. Come out to this community event to experiment with ham radios, see emergency response vehicles up close, and learn more about how your community is prepared for you.
Co-sponsored by the City of Independence, the fair will be fun for the whole family and offer valuable resources to help young Scouts earn merit badges. Admission to the museum will be FREE for everyone all day.
