Virtual Camps from Guidepost Montessori
Guidepost Montessori is offering half-day virtual summer camp experiences for Elementary age students 6-12 all summer long, with different themes each week. With Guidepost Virtual Summer Camp, your child will have the chance to grow skills in science, art, and creative thinking, with daily live programming guided by our team. Families will need to source some general household products and supplies; we will share a materials list in advance.
Available in two time zones: 9:00-12:00pm EST / 9:30-12:30pm PST. COST: $150/week

Typical Day
In addition to hands-on building in the morning and afternoon, campers will play interactive games led by our instructors and on-line boardgames to develop individual friendships, engage in group discussions, and participate in plenty of movement activities and games.
Our goal is for parents not to be involved with their children's camp day. However, depending on a child's level of independence and fluency with technology, they may need additional guidance or redirection that we are not able to provide virtually.

Campers will be with a live instructor throughout their day. Instruction and activities will be adapted to each camper and each group, just as they would be at our in-person camps.

The Virtual Game Design Camp guides students to make create playable game prototypes (2d & 3d games). Students will build a foundation for game development, deepen problem solving skills, learn the ease and power of C# coding while learning the Unity Game Engine (free software required). Short stories are a beautiful source for learning to read with clarity, write with meaning, discuss with eloquence, learn vocabulary like a boss, and present with class. Language Arts teaches these skills and practicing these skills prepares you to lead out in the world to improve it.

Using hands-on building material and basic programming, students will discover the world of robotics through interactive learning with Mindstorm Robots. Assemble mini-robots using a microcontroller, multiple sensors, and servo motors. Tell the robot what to do by programming commands using Mindstorm programming language. |

Spend the week taking an in-depth look at F/stops, shutter speed, ISO, and other digital camera functions and how to use them to your advantage. You will also learn composition, elements of design, lighting, and rule of thirds; so you can spend more time making great images and less time fixing them. But, that is not at all, try some experimental techniques along your digital photography journey.

You'll also learn about solar, wind and hydro power and the role machines play in storing and measuring it.
