School of Communications Summer Camps

Spend your summer learning how to design a video game, animate a cartoon, make a film, or learn the basics of recording your favorite band. Our camps can show you what you thought was impossible is actually possible.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Animation Camp (June 10-14, 2024)
Campers will explore basic principles of animation through hands-on experiences using a variety of media--including pencisl, paper, and stop motion materials. Campers also will practice animation in 2D on Cintiqs using industry-standard software like Toon Boom Harmony.

Game Design Camp (June 10-14, 2024)
Video games are very popular and this is your opportunity to design your own game. The first day will be spent deconstructing and playing popular games to understand what makes them work. Days 2 and 3 will be spent designing and building 3D platformers using Bloxels. Days 4 and 5 will be spent working in teams to develop top-down games in Unity.

Film Production Camp (June 24-28, 2024)
Campers will learn about the various jobs on a film set and will actively participate in creating a short film. Campers will learn about pre-production (planning), production (shooting), and post production (editing, finishing and special effects). Our campers will use industry standard equipment, facilities (such as our brand-new state of the art Sound Stage and LED Wall), and software.

Sound Recording Camp (June 24-18, 2024)
