AUDITION INFORMATION
Admission to the Kansas City Ballet School Junior Summer Intensive is by audition only. The four-week program is for students ages 9-13 (females who are pre-pointe or beginning pointe students). Audition will be approximately 90 minutes and will consist of barre and center, with pointe work for beginning pointe students. Audition results will be emailed within 10 business days of audition.
Students unable to attend the audition may request an in-class audition by appointment. Availability is limited and subject to Academy class schedule. Please contact School Administrator Edina von Hofman (evonhofman@kcballet.org) for details.

PRE-REGISTRATION
- Complete online Audition Form
- Attach photos to online Audition Form or bring to audition (4×6, with student’s name on the back)
- Headshot (females with hair up)
- First arabesque (females on pointe)
- Prepay Audition Fee of $30 (page provided after completing online Audition Form)
Pre-registration will close at 5:00 PM CST on the Wednesday prior to the audition. If you complete the audition form after this time, you may be asked to fill out a paper copy onsite.
Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to audition class. Please check in with KCBS Staff Member to confirm your registration and receive audition number.
ONSITE REGISTRATION
- Bring completed Audition Form or submit online before 5:00 PM CST on the Wednesday prior
- Attach photos to online Audition Form or bring to audition (4×6, with student’s name on the back)
- Headshot (females with hair up)
- First arabesque (females on pointe)
- Bring $40 Audition Fee in cash or check

What to wear to the audition: Female students should wear a simple, solid color leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes (if applicable, bring pointe shoes). Male students should wear a fitted white shirt, black tights and white or black ballet shoes. KCBS students should wear their Academy uniform.
VIDEO AUDITION
Out-of-town students unable to attend the audition may submit a video by February 16, 2019. Video audition fee is $40. Beginning January 7, audition results will be emailed within two weeks of the video being received.

APPOINTMENT AUDITION
Students unable to attend an audition may request an in-class audition by appointment. Availability is limited and subject to Academy class schedule. Please contact School Administrative Manager Edina von Hofman (evonhofman@kcballet.org) for details. Audition results will be emailed within ten business days of audition.
CURRICULUM
Students attend class Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM (June 3-28). Students will showcase their progress in an informal demonstration on Friday, June 28 in the Michael and Ginger Frost Studio Theater at the Bolender Center. A reception will follow the demonstration.

FEES
Tuition $1,300
A non-refundable $150 deposit is required to reserve a place in the program. This deposit is applied toward the total tuition cost.
The balance of tuition is due by May 3, 2019.
HOUSING
Dormitory housing is not provided for Junior Intensive students.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
Merit scholarships are awarded based on the audition and students receiving them will be notified in their acceptance letter. Merit scholarships must be accepted by March 22, 2019.
KCBS offers a limited amount of need-based financial aid for the Junior Summer Intensive. Awards are based on need. Please do not submit an application until you have received acceptance to the Kansas City Ballet Junior Summer Intensive.
DEADLINES
Admitted students must secure their spot in the program by March 22, 2019.
