JAM Session: Science of Breath (ages 6-10) - Museum at Prairiefire

Take a deep breath. What do you notice? We all know we need to breathe to survive and that it is something our body does without us even thinking about it. What if you stopped to think about it...what would you discover? You might observe things about your breathing that you never knew about before, such as whether you are a "chest breather" or a "belly breather". In this JAM, we will conduct some fun experiments that get you thinking about the science of breath. You will also make a pair of lungs using straws and paper lunch bags. As a bonus, find out what exactly causes smelly breath!

Parents are, of course, always welcome to remain in class but should a parent choose to step out, we have provided a seating area just outside the classrooms. Parents and siblings are also welcome to explore our Discovery Room or the rest of the Museum until the class concludes.
