Unearth the treasure of our local history with the Johnson County Museum! Examine artifacts from our collection, explore the exhibit, and put your brains and hands to work with interactive projects, games, and activities in our museum classroom. These monthly sessions serve as an engaging supplement to your homeschool curriculum, and give students the opportunity to build both new friendships and a new appreciation for what came before us! 1 - 2 hr. session - $6 per person, museum members receive a 20% discount - call (913) 831-3359 to register and claim discount. (includes admission to the museum and KidScape; Regular admission prices apply for non-participating children and adults)

Learn about how we collect things, why, and what it takes to care for our over 17,000 artifacts! Do some curator work yourself by handling some of our historical objects and discovering what they are—then imagine building an exhibit that tells the story of YOU!

Johnson County is home to many entrepreneurial minds—learn how one person’s idea can revolutionize the life of millions, and how teamwork and innovation can help move our community forward. What will you create?

HOMESCHOOL DAY AT LANESFIELD SCHOOL - Eyes forward! Backs straight! Join the teacher of Lanesfield School to complete lessons in arithmetic, spelling, penmanship, and more just as in the year 1904.

Located near Gardner, KS, Lanesfield School provides a perfect setting to step back in time to experience schooldays gone by. Mind your Ps and Qs in our historic schoolhouse, and engage in Q and A afterwards. Period dress is encouraged!

PLAYING IN THE PAST - Amusement parks, barn raisings, and fairs-oh my! Enjoy finding out how people enjoyed themselves long ago, and have a barrel of fun yourself!
Did you know there used to be TWO amusement parks in Merriam? And air shows in Overland Park? Brainstorm what special places we have in our community, and why they are important. See how toys changed over time, and even get to play, yourself!
