Have a middle schooler who cannot get enough of history class? Is your teen an avid reader? Bring them to the Alexander Majors Barn for our bi-monthly historic book club. Middle schoolers from around the Kansas City area will gather to discuss a historically themed book, complete activities, and enjoy a snack.

First on the docket is Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. The historic fiction book follows fourteen-year-old Mattie Cook as she grapples with the fever ravaging Philadelphia. Mattie’s tale is one of survival and coming of age during a tragedy.

Book line up:

  • 2/6: Fever 1793
  • 4/3: The Book Thief
  • 6/5: Esperanza Rising
  • 8/7: Chains
